VW today announced a second all-wheel-drive model to its European ID.4 lineup with the ID.4 Pro 4Motion.
As the only twin-motor model available apart from the ID.4 GTX, the new ID.4 Pro 4Motion offers a little less power than the GTX. The rear-mounted motor does most of the pushing with 201 hp (150 kW/204 PS), while the front motor is designed to help when it’s needed and stay out of the way when it’s not, producing an additional 107 hp (80 kW/109 PS). Together they combine for a maximum output of 261 hp (195 kW/265 PS).
That’s intentional, though, because the ID.4 Pro 4Motion is designed more for outdoorsy types than speed freaks. That extra motor means it can tow 441 lbs (200 kg) more than the RWD ID.4 Pro Performance, for a total capacity of 3,086 lbs (1,400 kg). VW even calls it a powerful tow vehicle that is ideal for smaller trailers and boats.
With presales now open, prices for the ID.4 Pro 4Motion start at €49,020 ($52,056 USD at current exchange rates) in Germany.
