QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking, and storage solution innovator, today introduced the TS-x73A NAS series featuring an AMD Ryzen™ V1000 series v1500B quad core 8-thread 2.2 GHz processor and 2.5GbE networking. This reliable and secure NAS series delivers high cost-efficiency with multiple value-added capabilities, including PCIe expansion, multi-cloud backup, cloud storage gateways, multiple backup and data protection methods, and storage capacity expansion solutions.

The TS-x73A series uses the app-driven QTS operating system but can switch to the ZFS-based QuTS hero to provide users with greater choice and functionality.

“With a great leap in hardware performance compared to previous models, the TS-x73A series provides incredible potential and expansion options for users.” said Jason Hsu, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “By supporting switching to the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system, the TS-x73A series represents great value and an exceptional investment for users with various and evolving requirements.”

The TS-x73A series includes 8GB DDR4 RAM (supports up to 64GB, supports ECC RAM), and the two -built-in M.2PCIe NVMe SSD slots allow users to leverage Qtier Technology and SSD Caching to achieve optimal performance. The dual 2.5GbE RJ45 ports can deliver up to 5 Gbps transfer speeds under Port Trunking. The two PCIe Gen 3 x4 slots allow for installing expansion cards to enhance NAS functionality – such as a 5GbE/10GbE network card, a QM2 network/storage card, a wireless adapter, or a SAS/SATA expansion card for connecting to TL SAS, TL SATA and REXP expansion units.

Graphics cards are also supported by the TS-x73A series, allowing for optimized graphical calculations and transformations. This can greatly boost the performance of applications such as video editing, 4K UHD transcoding, and imaging processing in QTS. Graphics cards can also be allocated to virtual machines via GPU passthrough.

The TS-x73A series supports advanced file storage, sharing, backup, sync, and data protection to help users accomplish productive daily tasks. Block-based snapshots make data protection and recovery easier and effectively mitigate the threat of ransomware. HBS (Hybrid Backup Sync) realizes efficient local/remote/cloud backup jobs, and features QuDedup technology that deduplicates backup files at the source to save backup time, space, bandwidth, and to accelerate multi-version backups for greater protection. Qsync enables efficient file synchronization between a QNAP NAS and linked devices for accelerating workflows.

The application potential of the TS-x73A series can also be extended by installing apps from the built-in QTS App Center. Available apps allow you to run multiple virtual machines and containers, deploy a cloud storage gateway, implement a professional video surveillance system, and much more.

QuTS hero, QNAP’s ZFS-based NAS operating system, provides end-to-end data integrity, data reduction (inline data deduplication, compression, and compaction), and much more to ensure an optimal environment for protecting business data. By supporting both QTS and QuTS hero, the TS-x73A series provides users with exceptional choice for prioritizing performance, applications, and data integrity requirements.
