The upcoming Huawei P50 series features one of the biggest camera bumps we’ve ever seen. Huawei has had mixed fortunes recently, but could the upcoming Huawei P50 turn everything around for the Chinese company? Huawei recently held an event to showcase the new HarmonyOS (Huawei’s answer to being locked out of the Google App Store), but they also teased an image of the Huawei P50 as well.

While the photo doesn’t even show the new camera phone in its entirety, it does give us a glimpse at the rear camera modules, which are… curiously large.

The camera bump consists of two big lenses with four camera sensors in total. Three of them are situated in the top lens and the bottom one houses a single camera sensor and a flash. At present, there doesn’t seem to be any specific details on how many megapixels each sensor will have, or what sort of focal length any of the cameras will use either.

This newly teased image fits in line with” data-component-tracked=”1″>previously leaked renders that also show that the Huawei P50 will use a centered punch hole camera for the front-facing selfie camera. XDA Developers also” data-component-tracked=”1″>suggests that Huawei looks to be sticking with a ‘waterfall’ curved display for the P50 as well. It’s also likely that the Huawei P50 will feature the newly showcased HarmonyOS.

At present, there isn’t a release date set for the Huawei P50, with Huawei stating that the company is “trying to figure out how to make the great product available to you”. This could suggest that Huawei is having difficulties with their supply chain – possibly due to the global silicon shortage. However, with this recent tease and the development of HarmonyOS, it’s clear that Huawei is still invested in its camera phone technology.
