MoePC has put together the latest rumors on AMD’s next installment in its HEDT Threadripper series.

According to the site, AMD Threadripper 5000 series codenamed “Chagall” are now rumored to launch in August, however, the site does not provide a possible launch date for the series. It is worth noting that Chagall had only appeared in rumors thus far, it was not included in any roadmaps that has surfaced over the pat few months.

MoePC claims that there will be no changes to the number of cores on the Threadripper 5000 series, but the processor architecture will be changed to Zen3. There were actually rumors that Chagall might be based on Zen3+, however, this claim has so far not been confirmed.

It would appear that Threadripper 5000 would not see changes in fabrication node, DDR4 memory support, or even TDP. The top SKUs would still cap at 280W, which is understandable as Chagall is likely to launch with support for existing TRX40 motherboards.

One of the only changes listed by MeoPC for Chagall is increased Inter-Chip Global Memory Interconnect (xGMI) speed from 16 GT/s to 18 GT/s, similarly to EPYC 7003 series codenamed “Milan”. This change was to be expected as both series have a lot in common, including Zen3 microarchitecture.

According to the latest rumors, Threadripper 5000 could debut in August with availability expected in September. The series are to offer up to 64 cores and 128 threads, but SKUs with 16 cores are supposedly also considered. Full specs of Chagall have not yet been confirmed though.
